One bit for surfacing and wide cuts

• Slab and panel flattening: level broad workpieces with a stable router sled before sanding and finishing.
• Wide dados and recesses: create straight-sided channels with a flat base using a suitable guide or jig.
• Rabbets and tenon cheeks: remove material in controlled passes with the workpiece properly supported.

A broad cutter with a 1/2-inch shank

Two carbide-tipped cutting edges work across a wide cutting path. The 1/2" steel shank fits a matching 1/2" router collet. Use the broad cutting path to work across large surfaces, then sand the wood to your desired finish.

Build the setup around the cut

Use a suitable router table, flattening sled or other rigid guiding jig. For surfacing, keep the sled rails level and stable, secure the wood, and work in shallow, overlapping passes. For dados and rabbets, set the guide carefully and test the width and depth on scrap before cutting the finished part.

Check that your router, collet, base opening and jig accommodate the cutter diameter, and follow the equipment's speed and feed guidance. Cutting height is a tool dimension, not a recommendation to remove that depth in one pass.

Suitable for hardwood, softwood, MDF, plywood and particle board. Test the cut on the actual material, especially veneered boards, and allow for final sanding after surfacing.
