Create matching, interlocking profiles for your next glue-up with the PROMASTERTOOL™ Finger Joint Router Bit – 1/2" Shank. Its four-level cutting profile forms a series of tapered fingers, increasing the contact area between mating pieces and helping them register as they come together.

Use it for end-to-end splices and edge-to-edge joints when extending boards or assembling wider wooden components for furniture, panels and workshop projects.

A closer look at the cutting profile

• Four tapered cutting levels create a repeating finger-joint profile.
• Carbide cutting edges provide the working surfaces for machining wood.
• 1/2-inch shank fits a compatible 1/2-inch router collet.

More surface for the glue-up

The tapered fingers overlap across the joint rather than leaving two flat ends in contact. This gives the glue more mating surface and helps the pieces locate against one another during assembly. Prepare straight, square stock of consistent thickness for an even fit.

The repeating tapered profile is suited to straight glue-ups for longer boards or wider components. Accurate setup and a dry fit help keep the finished faces aligned.

Dial in the fit before the final cut

Use a securely mounted router-table setup with the appropriate fence and workpiece support. Make test cuts in offcuts of the same thickness, then adjust the cutter height and cutting depth until the mating profiles fit correctly. Dry-fit the pieces before applying glue and clamping.
