Add mortising capability to your compatible drill setup

The PROMASTERTOOL™ Drill Adapter supports a hollow mortising chisel so you can cut square-sided holes and mortises in wood with a compatible drill or drill press. Choose the adapter on its own, or select a bundle with four or six mortising chisel-and-bit assemblies.

The adapter holds the outer chisel steady while the inner auger bit rotates to remove wood. Together, the two cutting parts form the mortise used in traditional woodworking joints.

Build the mortise for your next joinery project

Mortises are used in furniture frames, chair and table components, cabinetry and other wooden assemblies. A matching tenon is shaped separately and fitted into the mortise. The adapter supports the mortising operation; the finished fit also depends on your layout, setup and tenon preparation.

The sizes above refer to the nominal mortise width. Each cutting assembly combines a hollow square chisel with its matching internal auger.

Check the fit before ordering

For compatible drill presses and electric drills with a suitable mounting collar. Check your machine's collar diameter and shape, chuck clearance, and available working space before choosing this attachment.

Set up for a controlled cut

Clamp the workpiece securely, align the chisel with your marked mortise and make a test cut in matching scrap wood. Follow the instructions for your machine and cutting assembly when setting clearance, speed and feed. Use a sacrificial backing board when appropriate for the cut, and clear chips regularly during the operation.
